The Bloody Beetroots

July 30, 2009

Bloody Beetroots i’m sure most of you would have heard of after seeing them live in Perth earlier this month. The Italian duo- Bobby Rifo & Tommy Tea- usually perform with their trademark masks but it doesn’t stop them from getting the crowd dancing! They describe themselves as “the bastard son of the Misfits and Daft Punk” and I’d have to agree- listening to them would make you want to do a mix between crazy ass rocking out in a mosh pit and dancing in a way that may not actually be classed as dancing? Either way ever since they started pouring remixes in January 2007, increasing amounts of people have been downloading their shiz like crazy. Clearly their most listened to song of the moment is “warp”- have a look down below:

ROMBORAMA is the album to look out for.
I dare you to listen to it right now- in fact I double dare ya!

Children Collide

These Melbourne guys have sky-rocketed on the music scene (Yes, It’s a pun). Ryan Caesar, Johnny Mackay & Heath Crawley create music centred around Space and Rockets- their single “Farewell Rocketship” proved to be the most popular with the crowd wailing the chorus during their gig at Amps.

Their album “The Long Now” was released October 2008 but they did have three EP’s before hand:
2005: We Three, Brave And True
2006: Glass Mountain Liars
2009: Farewell Rocketship

I would love to put up a free link for you guys but that’s just not possible or else I be in trouble- Plus these guys in my opinion a WAY too good I hope you all buy their album and support these Aussie musicians!

Nudie Jeans Co.

July 3, 2009

eee

Jeans shopping is such a pain but you know that once you found the right pair (or 5) you’ll pretty much wear them out till beyond repair. Nudie Jeans has been so popular recently because it seems to fit well as well as provide people with the right style that most are looking out for- cuz they have an unbelievable range of jeans available from the Average Joe slack wear to the Thin Finn skinnies. And to match the large range of fit, is the variety of colours!

Despite the name, the company does sell tees, collared long/short sleeve shirts, jackets, accessories eeeeeven underwearr! The main concept for these jeans turns into something philosophical:

We love jeans, a passion we share with everyone who mourns a pair of worn out jeans as a close friend. Jeans share the same soul and attitude as music. The inspiration springs from the same dreams. As a true jeans brand we are not looking for the short-term trends. The inspiration is far from glamour and catwalks. The collection is tight, like a rock band, reflecting the feeling of everyday life.

Design goes beyond creating just a product that serves to fulfil a need or a function. The philosophy of Nudie jeans is to become part of your dreams. Jeans have a natural built-in dream and attitude.

Nudie will stay true to jeans and all about jeans.

Nudie is the ”naked truth about denim”. Denim has the ability to age beautifully – formed by its user into a second skin, naked and personal. The longer it lives the more character it gets. The indigo is a living colour that fades and gives the denim its character. The more you wear your jeans the more beautiful they get. Jeans are more than just a piece of clothing.

In Perth, Nudie Jeans can be found innn-
Highs & Lows – 1/672 Beaufort Street, Mt Lawley- 08 9272 9893
Ricarda- 91 Waratah Ave, Dalkeith- +61 8 9389 9494
Subway DC- Freo, Perth City & Claremont

Have fun exploring your denim style!

Digital Mind

July 3, 2009

aaa

These talented 16 year old Perthians have come up with their own successful DJ company type thing. If you’re ever after decent party music- just contact these guys!! They have good dance-able song choices, smooth skills and and easy-going personalities =oD

How did you come up with the name?
There’s no big story behind it really. We just knew it had to be simple, represent what music we play & our style as well as being easy to remember. I just came about by playing around with words until Digital Mind was finally born!

Tell me a little about yourselves:
Well, Absolute’s real name is Simon Willsher, he’s 16 & born and bred in Melbourne. After that he moved around the globe, even living up in Canada, before settling down in Perth in 1998. Equipt’s real name is Jack Burton, he’s 16 as well and was born in Perth and has lived here ever since. We both used to go to the same primary school, but back then we didn’t know each other. It wasn’t until we hit high school that we met and started making music, influenced by hip hop, graffiti and the local happening’s.

What did you guys do before the group started?
About 10 months ago, Absolute was already playing gigs, and just getting Equipt into DJing. We both started off heading down the ‘battle dj’ kinda of path. We still cut & beat juggle from time to time and those skills really helped with the mixing and party side of Djing.

–Random questions–
What song have you been listening to most in the past few weeks?
To name just one would be impossible! We listen to TONNES of tracks every week. Just to name a few;

Tear The Club Up – Tittsworth
Infinity 2008 (Klaas Remix) – Guru Josh Project
Day ‘N’ Nite (Crookers Remix) – Kid Cudi
Bounce – MSTRKRFT (Feat. N.O.R.E)

What one materialistic thing can you not live without?
The MacBook 🙂

What important lesson have you learnt from being in a group?
Teamwork is king.

Does being in a music group help in picking up girls/boys?
It definitely does.

Has anything crazy or embarrassing ever happened during a set?
Hmmm… to name just one?? aha.. Well with everything these days in music being digital, there’s bound to always be some technical glitches. One party we played at, we we’re mixing two songs, and all of the sudden, the music cuts and this crazyily high pitched noise comes out of nowhere! It almost blew the speakers and definately left some people with their ears ringing. Luckily it stopped after a few seconds and the show went on.

Have a listen to the type of stuff they play and if it’s exactly what you’re after- all their details are available on MySpace.
Keep a look out for these guys- I’ll be putting up a mix from them in the near future! But for the meantime you can stream “Everybody’s Infinity” from their MySpace site.

Tired of your old Sand Hour Glass? Update it with the new Pixelated one!

“For over 40 years, one of the longest running television shows in history opens with a slow camera zoom on an hour glass ticking away your daily wasted hour of mind numbing melodrama. The voice over is one of the most famous lines ever written for mass media; “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” That’s it! Aside from the occasional egg-timer sighting or Flintstones episode, society has moved way beyond need for one of the most ancient of technologies, the sand filled hour glass. Designer Pavel Balykin believes this very retro timepiece is on schedule for a comeback. It’s fittingly called the “Sand+Time Watch” and has the distinct feature of a digital hour glass screen saver mode. It’s a “screen saver” mode, because this particular feature does not actually count time for you. If you want to know the real time, click a button and a more modern interpretation of time, we like to call “numbers”, will appear.”
