Modernaire is a musical trio that creates amazing alternative-electro music. Not a big fan of grouping musical groups together in case they get offended but if you like Metronomy and The Knife and so on, check this trio out.

They’ve played around the UK with bands such as The Ting Tings, The Hot Puppies, Dragonette, The Holloways, The Whip, Friendly Fires, Ratatat, Clarky Cat, The KBC, Daggers, Alec Empire, Yelle, Disco Drive, Metal on Metal, Trash Fashion and many more.

How did you come up with the name?
It’s a song by Dez Dickerson from Purple Rain, the Prince film.

Tell me a little about yourselves?
We’re Oscar Wildstyle, Chesty La Rue and Cruella De Mill. We’re ageless, and from the South of England.

What did you guys do before the group started?
Twiddled our thumbs and practiced our instruments.

How did you start out/ was it hard?
We just wrote a few songs, recorded them in our bedrooms instead of attending lectures at college, and then as soon as we put up a myspace we started getting offered gigs around the country.

Any big plans for the near future?
Recording our debut album.

–Random Questions–
What song have you been listening to most in the past few weeks?
Kid Cudi – Day and Night

What one materialistic thing can you not live without?
My Laptop.

What important lesson have you learnt from being in a group?
There are a large number of cretins that walk this earth.

Does being in a band help in picking up girls/boys?
Not that I’ve noticed, or particularly tried…

Has anything crazy or embarrassing ever happened during a live gig?
During every live gig, yes. Wires unplugging, band members unplugging, ceilings collapsing, band members collapsing. Disaster upon disaster.

So that’s Modernaire guys, have a look at their music and keep an eye on their tour locations- they might pop around to Perth? You can also buy their second EP online ‘Velvet Never Dries’, it’s not that expensive so if you like them help support them!
