Fools rush in

Fools Rush In – nice bunch of PERTH guys who formed a band and created some great easy going music. Their music is something that you can listen to at anytime, anyplace, no matter how you feel. It can make you sing along or it can even be something that’s played in the background while studying without it being a distraction – as I find with some electro music, I tend to start to nod along with the beat. Plus the vocalists in this band, Ronan and Mark, do a great job. Their soothing vocals soften the rock without making it too soft, there’s still some awesome rocking on the guitars there! Often finding band members that suit each other is the biggest hurdle- matching the vocals to suit the right type of music played by the rest of the band as well as making sure that the personalities all get on well. From what I’ve heard, I believe Fools Rush In did a great job of passing that hurdle.

Here’s the interview with the guys from Fools Rush In:
How’d you come up with the name?
During the recording process we had a handful of names that we were fumbling over. After hours of looking and discussing which would be the best we were told by a friend that “you’d be crazy to rush into picking a name that you all weren’t happy with”… as that was spoken I flicked a page in a magazine to read the quote “Fools Rush In” and decided that was the name we should have.

Who’s in the band and how old are you guys?
Ronan (Guitar / Vocals) 26
Mark (Vocals / Guitar) 27
Ben (Bass / Vocals) 20
Andy (Drums) 23

Where are you guys from?
We’re all from Perth, Western Australia

What did you guys do before the group started?
Mark and I were in a band called Tantrum for several years and we had some great successes with that. We released 2 EP’s in Australia, Japan and the USA. Andy joined us towards the end of Tantrum and has stayed with us through Fools Rush In. Ben was the last to join and has gelled with us so well. We couldn’t imagine a better mix.
At this stage we all still work full time jobs, have finished university or trades and are touring the record.

How did you start out/ was it hard?
We all love what we do and enjoy writing the songs we get to play every night. Having four strong minded people in one room trying to decide upon things can sometimes be a hurdle but being such good friends at the same time usually allows us to work each other out before it gets to an argument.

Any big plans for the near future?
Well I’ve just come back from the USA where we held meetings with labels and publicists regarding our new record. We’re about half way home and very happy with how it’s all turning out. We are currently arranging a tour throughout Australia and then it’s off to the USA for shows at the end of the year.

–Random questions–
What song have you been listening to most in the past few weeks?
Well I bought the Goo Goo Dolls greatest hits in the USA and thrashed that. I’ve also been listening to Third Eye Blind, Saosin, Kings of Leon, Angels and Airwaves and the new Gyroscope record.

What one materialistic thing can you not live without?
I couldn’t live without my surfboards… If I had my way I’d do nothing but play music at night and surf throughout the day.

Do you have a secret name for your favourite inanimate object?
I call my favourite surfboard Chloe… It just fits!

Does being in a band help in picking up girls/boys?
I guess so, but it’s also helpful that we’re not assholes. Girls seem to like guys who are arty and funny and we don’t really take life too seriously.

So there you go! You can buy their songs on iTunes or request it on TripleJ radio. Perth people, I suggest you have a listen to these guys and even see a few gigs before they go off to the US and gain more fans- Cuz maybe the next chance you have to see them after that might be in a bigger crowd!
